What is life but one grand adventure?

Welcome! My name is Morgan and I’m excited for you to follow along. I enjoy pushing the envelope in most facets of my life, and am currently training for my next adventure, the Mongol Derby, in August, 2021. (Now August 2022…thanks Covid)

Originally from the Boston area, I lived in Virginia for 11 years before moving to SF after grad school. I’m currently semi-nomadic (thanks, Covid), and seem to be collecting animals as I have recently acquired a dog (Lyra) and a horse (Soldier). I started an Instagram account in 2017 called “1grandadventure” for me to spam with travel content as I embarked on a 10 week solo trip across Europe. I have repurposed it to be where I focus my Derby training content, and was able to buy the matching domain when it became available recently. And here we are!

product manager

Passionate about building products from scratch to delight customers, bringing in new revenue streams to existing companies, or addressing unmet user needs. Glad to have found a career that uses my inherent curiosity about humans and their behavior, fosters my love of problem solving, and remains lucrative enough to fund my adventuring.

My passion for horses and all things related started early and has only grown. I grew up three-day-eventing through college, rode people’s horses for them while I began my professional career, and am now competing in the 2021 Mongol Derby, touted as the “longest and toughest horse race in the world”. As my family members will surely tell you, I am a much happier person when I am actively involved with horses.

adventurer

I am constantly exploring places near and far - alone or with friends. I am comfortable soaking up knowledge in a museum, or finding a campsite on a mountaintop in a storm. I’ve traveled to many countries, backpacked through Patagonia, explored many national parks, hiked up many a mountain, and am looking forward to spending 10 days on the steppe of Mongolia in August!
